New Gear: Gerber Basic 3″

Gerber Basic 3" Knife

Gerber Basic 3" Knife

I saw this last night and had to get it, for a couple reasons. I need a decent smaller fixed blade, full tang knife, for camping/hunting trips, that I can carry around with me easily. I do already have the Gerber Big Rock Camp Knife but it is kind of large to carry around with me, especially when I am not in camp. So far, I like the Basic; it feels good in my hand during use  and I know it will be tough.

Gotta Love That Texas Weather

Ahhh, the Texas days are getting cool once again; unless of course the weather changes again as is typical in Texas. I am looking forward to some cold weather camping, in anticipation picked up some new gear. A Molle assault pack and EMT bag for future camping trips as I realize I probably need to get my gear our of the rolling pilot case that is unorganized and hard to carry. I wouldn’t really go as far as calling it a bugout bag but it does contain all the stuff I would need if for some reason I was stuck at the campsite for an extended period (hatchet, portable shovel, camp knife, other knife and other knife, firesteel… you get the idea). EMT bag will contain my FAK (first aid kit) and water purification stuff and other stuff like that…. Will add pictures as bags develop…
